Time-dependent Effect of Expansion due to Alkali-silica Reaction on Mechanical properties of Concrete

This study investigates the time-dependent mechanical properties of concrete deteriorated by alkali–silica reaction (ASR). Previous analytical and experimental studies have indicated positive impact ASR gel in cracks against damage concrete. To effects on cracked concrete, groups cylinder specimens with different expansion levels were prepared tested at material ages. The compression test results showed that elastic modulus could be recovered over time. Mechanical property data from other collected assessed to observe similar trends across literature. It was observed recovery also occurred previously reported experiments. is assumed due chemical physical gel, which fills cracks. Moreover, parameters than age attributed affected ASR.
